1.     What is a parabola?
Ø A symmetrical open plane curve formed by the intersection of a cone with a plane parallel to its side.
2.     How does a parabola relate to real life?
Ø Anything that uses a ballistic path. A baseball is hit high and deep into the outfield.

Concave down
A graph or part of a graph which looks like an upside-down bowl or part of an upside-down bowl
Vertices
A corner point of a geometric figure. For a polygon, vertices are where adjacent sides meet. For an angle, the vertex is where the two rays making up the angle meet.
Maximum
To find the largest possible value.
Minimum
To find the smallest possible value.
Axis of symmetry
A line of symmetry for a graph. The two sides of a graph on either side of the axis of symmetry look like mirror images of each other
